This week you will be reading an inspirational news article about Isaiah Bird, a young wrestler from New York who was born without legs, but still finds strength on the mat with the help of his coach.

- Complete the Analyzing a News Story Concept Map. (who, what, where, when, why, ?'s) by reading the article a second time.
Write a one paragraph summary of the article. Your writing should show your use and understanding of the 5 "Key Vocabulary" words.
Write the body of your first paragraph, (4 or more sentences) by stating the main idea of the article
The body of the paragraph should:
- paraphrase the author in your own words. (Do not copy sentences word for word from the article.)
- focus on the big ideas from the reading. (be sure to answer the 5W’s)
- summarize the most important facts and supporting details (locations, dates, names)
- include important vocabulary words (use the focus sheet with key words from the reading that will make your summary clear, complete, and precise)
