MAP STANDARD RULES
This map shows the United States as it appeared before the Civil War began. Notice the three colors indicating the Northern (free states), Southern (slave states), and Border states.
Label your map and shade with three colors representing each region.
- Use black or blue pen to label.
- Always label with uniform letters of the same shape, size and direction.
- All shading is done in colored pencil - use lighter colors so that you can read labels over it.
- (Political features that border each other may never share the same color.)
- (Water bodies are colored in blue.)
