This weeks Map Standard ties in with the Newsela article about Climate Change. The scientist in the article lives in Seattle, Washington. In addition to the News Summary, Map Standard, and Prezi insertion, you will also have to write a HAIKU poem and create a water color illustration. Your first task is to create a map standard of WASHINGTON , OREGON , and CALIFORNIA Use 3 colors to shade each state. Create a star symbol to indicate the capital cities. Label: Olympia , Salem , Sacramento Use a dot to indicate other major cities, Seattle , Portland , Los Angeles Create a symbol to indicate mountains. Draw in and label two mountain ranges (Cascade Range, and Sierra Nevada) Label the PACIFIC OCEAN Add TODALS Include your symbols in the LEGEND Prepare for a test by the end of the week. Use your understanding of climate change to write and illustrate a Haiku. The haiku poem is 17 syllables, divided into 3 lines of 5 syllables, 7 syllables and 5 syllables.
